Ellie Gooch

Ellie Gooch uses gravity, chaos, control and chance as vehicles for the paint’s journey as the droplet of innocent pure colour turns, rolls, and finds its way over the surface. The paint becomes the artist, deciding its own path until the energy imposed by gravity on it dissipates and is stilled by time and drying.

Her practice explores new abstract dimensions with exciting canvases which include, but are not limited to, glass, Perspex, MDF, and metal.

‘It’s like looking at a sliced photo and the colour is draining out… you’re left with the “bones”, the support system and structure of the piece’.

‘She explores the pure energy that flows in everything, the relationship between control and chaos through paint, which changes state as time and gravity are applied… the same two forces that govern our existence’.
