Ash investigates her subconscious through the illusion of flesh. Using only her ‘mind’s eye’ image as reference, she hand moulds fragmentary sculptures to embody her apparitions. Through moulding and painting, the history of movement and human experience is documented and poignant. The ambiguity of the objects suggests not only questions, but a space for curiosity and the surreal. By creating tangible objects from the mind, the enquiry into the ‘real’ and what it might mean to exist or becomes paramount.
