Katie Thaine

Katie Thaine uses experiences from the digital realm to influence her paintings. She is interested in the unusual relationships or connections that are created only by online experiences and the way over-reliance on technology can affect public behaviour: technology is intertwined in everyday life, to the extent where the two are inseparable. The blurring of the physical and the digital is something that she feels she can convey through painting; by juxtaposing seemingly ‘instant’ digital images with a slow, physical process. The screen is a concept that is vital to her current work, where the two meanings of the word collide.
