The storytelling powers of video games have seen the medium deviate from conventional forms of experience into complex representations of society. Digital artist, Jorge Strowger, centres his conceptual and theoretical interests into the gaming platform, discussing the conversational, influential and representational powers of the medium. Jorge’s study fundamentally examines video games as a form of cultural representation, utilising the platform to tackle social, political and cultural issues. Employing photography, film and digitally generated imagery the artist reforms existing conventional simulated experience into scenarios that respond and confront current issues. Jorge uses his own interaction with video games as a way to manipulate the intentions of the simulated experience. The artist is then able to fabricate alternative narratives that produce engaging perspectives on contemporary life.
